Year-round broodmare care is Berkeley’s speciality. We carry around 40 permanent mares on the farm with the numbers increasing during the breeding season as we cater for our seasonal clients. We focus on the health and nutrition of each individual broodmare with the production of a healthy foal of prime importance.
The foaling unit is supervised 24 hours/day during the foaling season and we have the back up of a Scone Equine Hospital appointed veterinarian should an emergency arise. If transport is required to take a mare or foal into the Scone Equine Hospital for any reason, the farm truck is on hand.
Equine reproduction is one of Neale’s great strengths. Under his care ASIA, the Gr I winning daughter of DANEHILL, delivered her first foal at the age of 17. She went on to produce another live foal the following year. This would have to be one of his major achievements in a life long association with the thoroughbred breeding industry.
Berkeley Park Stud has its own small broodmare band with an aim to produce tough sound athletes for the commercial marketplace. Our aim is to cater for the needs of all Thoroughbred Breeders big or small with our motto being: ‘We may not be all on the same boat but different boats on the same river’.
